Leave the ants alone.

Ants are the most clever and well-organised of little animals. They work together so well and so co-operatively that they put humans rather in the shade. So if you see an ant, remember: he’s doing an important job of some kind and would prefer to be given time and space to just get on with it!

Bake a Cake.

What could be a more lovely way to celebrate all sorts of things? (That’s a rhetorical question by the way). Here you see me on my birthday (today) presenting a freshly-baked masterpiece to my friends Little Joe and Waffles, my delightful dog. We are about to share the happiest of moments: the very first morsel of Victoria sponge…Happy Birthday everyone!

Be a Philosopher.

Inspired by the Greek thinker Diogenes, I am seen here wearing an old barrel previously used for storing olives or wine or something similar. Apart from walking through the streets of Athens wearing nothing much (except in some stories a wooden barrel), Diogenes is also famous for asking the Delphic Oracle for advice and being told to deface the currency. He was one of the original ‘cynics’ who liked to challenge authority and promote independent thinking. Clearly he’s not the only philosopher worth considering in the search for world peace; there are loads more to find out about before you decide to be one of your own…!

Say no to Chips.

Why, you might ask? Why indeed! In fact you can probably say what you like to a chip and they are unlikely to respond. Relationships with chips can be notoriously difficult though. Some people spend their whole lives struggling with the little blighters…and I, Lard, am one of them. I figure that if I can say no to chips, then I have the hope of being able to say no to other things that come along and are a lot more threatening to my peace and happiness. World Peace!

Light a candle for peace.

Since it’s always better to light a candle than complain about the darkness, it seems like it’s a good idea to light a candle at the beginning of the year and then have a new year’s resolution to give up complaining…who can complain about that? It’s bound to make you more peaceful!  (NB Safety Warning! Remember to observe Health and Safety guidelines and get parents/ tribal elders/firemen to help unless you’re over 16. Keep naked flames away from burnable things and don’t leave them in a room on their own! Even flames get lonely…)  World Peace!
